Celebrating World Interfaith Harmony Week
City Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Y. Emano, together with Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas and some Council member, pose with leaders of the different religions in the city during the first ever celebration of the World Interfaith Harmony Week at the Kiosko Kagawasan in Divisoria.
The religious leaders surround the City Mayor, Vice Mayor, and some City Council members and prayed for the betterment of Cagayan de Oro and its people.
The first ever World Inter-faith Harmony Week celebration in Cagayan de Oro was held successfully yesterday at the Kiosko Kagawasan in Divisoria. The event was attended by the leaders of the various religious sects in the city including the Catholic church, Evangelical churches, Islam, Iglesia Filipina Independiente, Seventh Day Adventist, UCCP, Methodists, and Baptists.
The focal point of the celebration was the prayer for unity and the city’s speedy recovery from the calamity brought by the typhoon Sendong.
Part of the celebration was the praying over by the various leaders around City Mayor and City Council members for strength and wisdom in governing the city especially during these difficult times.
The event ended with the signing of an agreement making the Ecumenical Prayer a regular affair every first week of February based on the United Nations General Assembly resolution as the World Inter-faith Harmony Week.
