The three (3) government agencies tasked to manage the validation and verification of the beneficiaries for the Calaanan permanent homes namely, the Estate Managament Division (EMD), the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), shall very soon start posting the lists of beneficiaries in various selected barangays in the city.
EMD Officer-in-charge Nila A. Padla explains that the posting of these lists will allow the barangay residents and its local officials to see for themselves the list of beneficiaries and report anything that is out of line or questionable.
“Gituyo kini para makita sa katawhan kon nakaila ba sila, taga-diha ba gyud ang beneficiary nga nalista, ug kon dunay mosupak or mo-question, himoon nato ang re-validation ngadto sa beneficiary nga concerned,” reports Padla.
As of late, there are already 400 beneficiaries who have been verified and validated by the EMD for the permanent relocation. These validated beneficiaries come from the tent cities in Calaanan who were given priority to be the first ones to occupy the free houses and lots provided by the City Government and the Habitat for Humanity in Calaanan, Canitoan, this city.
There are more than 8,000 residents in the city who were affected by the typhoon Sendong and 2,000 of these had their houses either totally washed out or partially damaged.
City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano made clear that all Sendong affected city folks are entitled to these free houses and lots and that those whose houses were totally washed out are given priority for first occupancy, followed by those whose houses were partially damaged.
