Cluster Approach in Humanitarian Emergencies

UN-OCHA (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) CdeO Head of Sub-Office Mr. Jean-Marie Stratigos (in white shirt) delivers a briefing to the City Risk Reduction and Disaster Management Council, March 21, on the Cluster Approach to disaster management which was actually adapted by the Philippines in 2007. Clusters consist of global/local groups of agencies, organizations and NGOs which are tapped and coordinated to deliver coherent and effective response in humanitarian emergencies.

The OCHA has also scheduled a 2-day affair starting March 22 for an Action Review the objective of which “is to gather , document and analyse events that occurred during the response and learn and capitalize from humanitarian actions, initiatives, successes and challenges that may be beneficial to the humanitarian community in the Philippines and others in the future“.
