The Cagayan de Oro City ASSET-in-Arnis Team proved their supremacy over top competing teams in the region as they emerged as the overall champion in the 1st Mayor Vicente Y. Emano Cup Invitational Arnis Encounter 2012 held recently at the SM City Atrium here.
ASSET-in-Arnis Training Director Leo A. Villegas said the top team captured a total of 44 medals to bag the championship title as it pocketed 19-11-14 gold, silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Another local team, the South City Central School, also showed their prowess in the sport as it was declared as the first runner-up, garnering 8-6-5 gold-silver-bronze medals.
Visiting Malaybalay and Iligan cities placed second runner-up and third runner-up as they took home 6-10-6 and 4-10-2 gold-silver-bronze medals, respectively.
Aside from the different arnis teams in Cagayan de Oro City, other teams coming from nearby Ozamis City and Lanao del Norte also participated in the two-day competition supported by Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano through the City Sports Development Program.
