Youth Volunteers Undergo Calamity Response Training

Realizing that the youth is a dependable force which can efficiently deliver assistance during any calamity in their respective barangays, a ‘Volunteer Youth for Emergency (VYE) Seminar Workshop‘ initiated by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Manangement Council was held last May 31, 2012 at the City Tourism Hall.

City Administrator Atty. Leon Du M. Gan, Jr, who represented Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Y. Emano during the workshop, declared that the youth attendees can learn a lot of things and acquire skills they can use to properly respond to any calamity or emergency.

Some topics discussed by the members of the Oro Alert City Rescue Group were basic rescue operations, communication and reporting protocol, and spirit of volunteerism.

Invited guests who were present during the workshop were Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas, SK Federation President Kagawad Sunshine Obsioma, City DILG Director Emil Rana, and Oro Alert Incident Commander Eng’r. Armen Cuenca.
