The National Housing Authority (NHA) shall soon commence building 2,000 houses intended for city residents who are living in areas identified as ‘Danger Zones’ or ‘High-Risk Areas’, according to a recent announcement by City Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Y. Emano.
These houses differ from the usual houses and lots in the relocation sites in that they are not free. The ‘No-Build Area’ residents can avail of these houses for a very affordable fee.
“Subay sa kamandoan ni Bise Presidente Jejomar ‘Jojo’ Binay, usa ka libo (1,000) ka mga balay ang pasiunang i-mugna sa NHA diha sa may utlanan sa barangay Bayanga ug Mambuaya, apan pabayran lamang kini sa ubos nga kantidad aron magahum intawon sa mga kabus,” the mayor announced.
For their unwavering support in assisting the city especially in building thousands of houses for the survivors of the Sendong disaster, the City Council has issued a resolution making Mr. Ramon S. Ang of the San Miguel Foundation and Mr. Leonilo Escalada of the Habitat for Humanity as ‘Adopted Sons of Cagayan de Oro City‘.
“Kini agi’g pagpasalamat ug pag-ila sa ilang dakong tabang sa pagmugna og liboan ka mga balay alang sa mga biktima sa baha, ug busa wala magmakuli ang Konseho sa dakbayan sa pagpalabang og usa ka resolusyon nunot usab sa akong hangyo,,” City Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Y. Emano announced recently.
Together with San Miguel Corporation Senior Vice President Ferdinand Constantino (who came in behalf of SMC Pres. Ramon S. Ang) and Habitat for Humanity top execs Mr. Charlie Ayco and Mr. Leonilo Escalada, City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano awarded 636 houses and lots which somehow served as presents to the Sendong beneficiaries as the turnover ceremony coincided with the festival day honoring the city’s patron saint Señor San Agustin.
The mayor spoke to both visitors and beneficiaries during the turnover event saying that the houses were given out to the survivors on the Patron Saint’s feast day as a way of thanking and acknowledging him for the blessings poured on the city through his intercession thus allowing it to bounce back after the disaster.
“Gitunol nato kining mga kabalayan sa adlaw mismo sa atong mahal nga patron agi’g pagpasalamat usab sa iyang gibubo nga grasya ug tabang aron makabangon sa hingpit ang atong dakbayan gikan sa nahiagumang trahedya,” the mayor said.
Some Sendong survivors got their houses last August 28, 2012 during the ‘Turnover and Awarding of Houses and Lots’ in Indahag. Prior to the awarding, San Miguel Corporation execs (in photo) ceremonially turned over a replica of a quadruplex unit to City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano who thanked them profusely and humbly requested that San Miguel Corporation’s promised additional housing units be constructed this year, instead of next year as planned, so that the rest of the survivors may be able to settle down into their own houses before the Sendong anniversary.
