This is the Elementary Basketball Team of Northern Mindanao that made it as the ‘Champion Team’ after a stellar 6 wins – 0 loss performance during the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa held in Dumaguete City, last April 21-27, 2013.
The NMRAA (Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association) led by Mr. Eulogio ‘Jun’ Suaner presented at City Hall the teams that brought home 38 Gold Medals, 30 Silver Medals, and 35 Bronze Medals, and placed 3rd Runner Up overall in the Palarong Pambansa 2013, aside from receiving a special award as ‘Most Disciplined Delegation’.

The sportsfest aims to foster unity among Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and showcase their athletic talents and abilities in friendly competition. The games include the wheel chair race, volleyball, goal ball, patintero, and basketball on wheels.
One of the SPES participants, Miss Viveth Calonia expressed the SPES grantees’ collective gratitude to the city government for giving them a chance to work with the city government for a few weeks culminating last Friday, April 26, 2013. By increasing the number of beneficiaries from 1,000 to 1,400, the city government helped a lot more students this time not only to give them some work experience, but most importantly, to help them earn a few pesos to ease, in some way, their financial stress.
The students who were dispersed to several offices at the city hall experienced how it is like to work for the government.

CHEMCO’s ‘Winningest’ Guy
Eng’r Armen Cuenca not only took home one of the give-away prizes during the City Hall Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (CHEMCO) General Assembly, he also came out as the topmost Board of Director candidate having garnered the most votes during the election held at the same event at the LKK Center Atrium. The other new Board of Directors are Eldie Daayata, Honorio Diputado Jr., Eng’r. Nonito Oclarit, and Cecilia Galarita.
The new firetruck promised by the Unitop Department Store has finally been delivered to the City Hall premises last April 9, 2013. The mayor expressed his gratitude to the donor saying that this new addition to the city fire district’s equipment arsenal will greatly help in emergencies, especially fire.
A team of 6 young Brazilian professionals recently made a courtesy call on City Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Y. Emano to kick off their April 8-16 cultural tour in Cagayan de Oro where they intend “to learn the local norms and practices of their vocations and to experience and understand the local culture”. The group’s tour was made possible through the Group Study Exchange (GSE) Program of the Rotary International.
