The city government of Cagayan de Oro City has intensified its widespread campaign of tree planting, including the drive to educate the people on proper waste disposal.
“Kini nga mga kalihukan tipik sa atong kasaulogan sa Environment Month ning bulan sa Hunyo, ug nunot usab sa atong paningkamot sa pagprotehir ug pag-amuma sa atong kinaiyahan,” Mayor Vicente Y. Emano clarified.
The Mayor further added that, in fact, a series of tree planting activities had been undertaken recently in the city’s relocation sites as well as along the Iponan River, Cagayan River, and other key areas all over the city. Other undergoing activities are coastal clean-up drives in coastal barangays, and seminars/orientations on solid waste management.
An environmental awareness concert called “Han-ay Cagayan‘ will conclude the celebrations. The free concert which is to be held on June 30, 2012 at the Rodelsa Circle is sponsored by the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) under Janet Deguinion and the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources of Kagawad President Elipe, in partnership with the Basura, At Iba Pa, Inc.
