VYE Pleads to SMC for Early Construction of Additional Houses

City Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Y. Emano appealed to San Miguel Corporation Chairman Ramon S. Ang not to defer the construction of additional houses for next year, and ‘implored’ that the houses be constructed instead within this year so that the remaining Sendong survivors would be spared from waiting longer for their permanent homes.

San Miguel Corporation funded the latest batch of houses being constructed by the Habitat for Humanity in Indahag Relocation Site Phase 2 and an Awarding Ceremony was recently conducted (last August 28, 2012) where free house and lots were turned over to 636 families. It was during this ceremony that Mayor Emano relayed his appeal to Mr. Ramon S. Ang through SMC Vice President Mr. Ferdinand Constantino who was present during the turn over ceremony.

Mayor Emano earlier revealed that the San Miguel Corporation has pledged to construct 5,000 houses through the Habitat for Humanity with the remaining batch supposedly to be started next year. The mayor repeated his plea for the early construction even saying that if needed, he’d ask again ‘on bended knees’.

Some Sendong survivors got their houses last August 28, 2012 during the ‘Turnover and Awarding of Houses and Lots’ in Indahag. Prior to the awarding, San Miguel Corporation execs (in photo) ceremonially turned over a replica of a quadruplex unit to City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano who thanked them profusely and humbly requested that San Miguel Corporation’s promised additional housing units be constructed this year, instead of next year as planned, so that the rest of the survivors may be able to settle down into their own houses before the Sendong anniversary.
